Oneness-Home Peace Run

Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run

In 1987, Sri Chinmoy launched the Oneness-Home Peace Run, a torch relay designed to promote friendly and peaceful coexistence among people of different cultures, countries, social backgrounds and faiths. The runners visit schools, clubs, regional and national organizations, town halls and parliaments. Millions of people in 155 countries have since passed the torches from hand to hand and have been joined together in a spirit of friendly living. Nelson Mandela, Mikhail Gorbachev, Mother Teresa, Desmond Tutu and Carl Sudhahota Lewis have held the torch in their hands and welcomed the objectives of the run. An international team of runners has been visiting all countries in Europe for several years. Tens of thousands of schoolchildren have welcomed the international team of runners in Germany, Austria and Switzerland with enthusiasm and expressed in their performances their hopes and dreams of a world of harmony and peace.

“The Peace Run represents a dream: running allows us to connect people around the world,” said Kenyan Tegla Loroupe, UN sports ambassador and marathon world record holder of 1999, who actively supports the Peace Run.
